Britannia Royal, by the Oldenburg stallion Royaldik, is an Advanced event stallion, son of the legendary elite 5* mare Headley Britannia (Brit), winner of Badminton, Burghley, Kentucky and a team Olympic silver medal.
This talented stallion has superb world-class bloodlines for eventing on both sides of his pedigree: in addition to the bloodlines from his dam Brit (by the renowned stallion Jumbo, eventing supersire), his sire Royaldik is a son of Herka xx, full sister to Heraldik xx, the WBFSH No.1 Eventing Sire for a decade, and damsire of Michael Jung’s wonderful La Biosthetique-Sam. Heraldik is still very influential today.
Britannia Royal is an elegant, eye-catching, modern blood-type stallion, 70% TB. He is a short-coupled stallion with correct conformation, good feet, rhythmical paces and a quick, bold but careful and athletic jump. His natural speed cross country has enabled him to regularly and comfortably complete within the time allowed as he has progressed up the eventing levels.
In 2022 he became well established at 3* international level AND upgraded to Advanced, with four from four cross-country clears at 3*, two Top 20 finishes and 3rd Intermediate at Cornbury International; in 2023 he was a winner at Brightling Park.
Apart from his good looks, he is a charming horse with a lovely calm, trainable temperament and is a pleasure to handle at home, at stud and at competitions, which comfortably enables him combine competing and stud duties.
His show jumping has been super careful, and his cross-country rounds have been nothing short of scintillating.
Britannia Royal’s progeny are already starting to show their quality: his daughter Classictop True Brit had a fantastic start to her eventing career under international rider Vittoria Panizzon, having been an in-hand winner at County level in Hunter Breeding and Hack/Riding Horse classes; his son Classictop Britannic was Champion Hunter Breeding at the 2019 Kent County Show and is making his mark in dressage. This year, Cornsay Heraldry has had a great first season eventing, with 10 Foundation points from just a few runs.
Britannia Royal is also getting excellent results from his foals presented for evaluation at the Futurity series. His first foal of 2018, Cornsay Heraldry, from a Chilli Morning mare, was one of only two youngsters, across all the age groups, to be awarded a Higher First Premium at the Richmond Futurity; a 2019 foal, Vivat Rex, was also awarded Gold at the Catherston Stud Futurity. This year, his son SHF Royal Flush was the highest graded eventing youngster at the Breen Stud, Hickstead, and went on to be 4th highest graded potential event foal in the country. Britannia Royal has frozen semen available in the EU, USA and Australia, with progeny already on the ground in the USA.
Britannia Royal is throwing beautiful youngstock, who are inheriting his calm, friendly temperament. His oldest daughter Classictop True Brit has made a terrific start to her eventing career with International rider Vittoria Panizzon, having been a winner in-hand at County level;
Classictop Britannic (2017) is proving a talented dressage horse and was in-hand Champion Hunter Breeding, Kent County Show 2019.
