A beautiful, bold and exquisite young stallion. Oakley has a wonderful temperament, along with superb conformation, with very expressive paces. This super horse is showing so much talent, both over a fence and on the flat. His paces are expressive and powerful. He has a bold and scopey jump. He is a breath takingly stunning stallion who has a close resemblance to his Grand Sire Dutch Courage.
His pedigree boasts success in all his parentage. Thriller was a very successful National Hunt Chaser and an HIS Premium stallion, Wellingtonia was on the British Junior Event Squad in Rome 1983 and an Advanced Medium dressage horse. Dutch Courage was both an International Grand Prix Dressage horse and won Britain’s first World Championship medal, Bronze in 1978 and is the sire and grand sire of numerous Graded Stallions and International and Olympic horses in both Dressage, Eventing and Show Jumping. Dutch Gold, Winner of the British Novice Event Championships in 1983 before going on to Win the World Cup Dressage Points League, numerous World Cup Dressage Qualifiers and compete at the Olympics in 1988. Fleetwater Opposition was the Double Gold Medallist at the European Junior Event Championships in 1983 before going on to be an International Grand Prix Dressage horse. Dutch Bombshell, a winner in the show ring was also a dressage horse and Individual and Team Vaulting horse. A varied and successful pedigree!
Oakley has a very good competition record, picking up elite status in Futurity gradings as young horse and numerous wins in both dressage, to young event horse classes and SHB GB Sport Horse ridden classes along with being Premium Graded SHB-GB.
2019 he qualified for the Osberton Young Horse Eventing 5 year old Championships and for the Equine Bridge in Eventing he was the 2nd highest placed Event horse of all ages and leading 5 year old, all with Charlotte Dicker with whom he gained all of his 46 Foundation Points for consistency and double clears.
2020 was his first season standing at Stud, 100% in foal and 12 of his 13 mares in foal to the first service. Oakley is bold XC but very sensible and will always give as much as you could ask of him. This eye-catching stallion really does turn heads, his beautiful behaviour and good looks are admired wherever he goes.
In 2021 Catherston Oakley moved to Gubby Leech who has been competing him at Novice BE as a 7yr old and has won two Novice classes and been placed 8 times in the top 10 out of his 12 runs proving that he is reliable, consistent and able to combine his competition commitments with his stud work. He finished the season at Grade 2 with 33 BE points and a lovely clear XC at Bicton CCI-S 2*. 2022 started with ON at Portman, followed by excellent placings at Open Novice, Intermediate Novice, a 2nd in his first Intermediate at Farley Hall followed by the Novice Championships at Gatcombe where an unfortunate stop dropped him down the placings, but then a good round at OI at Aston-le-Walls to finish the season.
In 2023 he was ridden by Izzy Hardy and qualified for the British Dressage Nationals at Somerford Park.
