Competition Stallions

Tomatillo is a genetic clone of Tamarillo, the well-known Event horse, long term member of the British team and winner of the Badminton and Burghley four star Events. Because Tamarillo, like most Eventers, was a gelding he has been cloned so that his special genes will not be lost.

Tamarillo had particular merits as a performance horse which made him worthy to be cloned: he was a big mover with a light natural cadence, he was extremely tough and agile in testing conditions and he seemed to find the big fences easy.

Tarnik, Tamarillo’s sire, was a Polish Anglo Arab, a many generation blend of Thoroughbred (about 75%) and Arab with a trace of Shagya blood. He was an extremely bold and tough horse and won the A.H.S. Marathon Race in 1977.

Tamarillo’s dam, Mellita, was an Anglo Arab by Master Spiritus, the renowned Eventer sire of yesteryear.

Tomatillo is  competing under BE Rules, ridden by Aaron Millar. He has 64 BE points and has moved up to 4* level with a double clear and 8th place at Ballendenisk in September 2022.
