Competition Stallions

Tempest was bred in Ireland by the Curran family, and purchased by us as a foal. His pedigree includes many of Ireland’s most prolific Connemara performance stallions. His sire, Coosheen Stormboy, is a grandson of the world renowned Ashfield Bobby Sparrow, who won individual gold at the pony European Showjumping Championships in 1980 (the first Connemara ever to do so). Coosheen Stormboy has sired many successful international performance ponies.

Tempest’s full brother, Glencarrig Dolphin, has outstanding form at BE Novice and FEI Pony Trial level in the UK, and represented Great Britain at the 2022 European Eventing Championships for Ponies. While Aoife’s Star and Laburnum Ineer have both represented Ireland at the European Eventing Championships for Ponies in recent years. In the showjumping world, Cappagh Lad is successfully competing at 1.30m.

Tempest’s dam, Mountross Colleen, is a superb mare in her own right, with numerous show ring titles to her name. Her sire, Coral Star, was a son of the Grade A jumping pony Cuchulainn, who also won the stallion class at Clifden in Ireland in 1986.

Tempest himself is incredibly athletic and trainable. These attributes, combined with his excellent movement, scope, conformation and wonderful temperament, which he is passing on to his offspring, make him a very exciting pony stallion.

His lines cross well with Thoroughbred and sport horse mares, as well as Connemaras. He is tested N/N for HWSD.
