Opposition Bombshell was a very eye catching horse with tremendous presence, a beautiful head and neck and a good length of rein. His paces were bold, expressive and off the ground. His temperament was superb. Unfortunately as a 4 year old Opposition Bombshell injured himself in the field so has not competed himself. Opposition Bombshell produces quality, correct youngstock with good, powerful paces and wonderful temperaments. He was proving to be a very good improving sire with his correct conformation he produces tough and bold horses for both eventing and dressage. His stock sit you in the middle of the horse, with a “front” in front of you and a powerful engine in their hind ends.

He had 4 foals in 2012, 3 of whom were presented at the BEF Futurity Evaluations. All 3 were awarded Higher Firsts, which gained Opposition Bombshell 2nd in the Eventing Stallion Rankings at the time. His 2014 colt foal Catherston Oakley was awarded an Elite Premium at the BEF Futurity, has Premium Graded as a SHB Stallion, an Equine Bridge Graduate and now an Advanced Event horse with 63 BE points with Gubby Leech, winning the IN at Nunney and 2nd Intermediate at Farley. His other successful eventers are Catheston Orator with Hannah Vickery, Catherston Osiana with Charlotte Dicker, Oblivion with Phoebe Towers and Catherston Olleander with Aimee Stunt. Opposition Bombshell has been used on all sorts of horses and ponies to improve conformation, movement, jumping ability and is an ideal sire for producing youngstock for the keen amateur breeder with stock being beautifully natured and wanting to learn. 

His pedigree is world renowned for producing Olympic level progeny for both Eventing and Dressage. His Sire, Fleetwater Opposition first hit the headlines as a six-year-old when he won individual and team gold at the Junior European Eventing Championships 1983. Fleetwater Opposition then competed in dressage to grand prix level before turning to stud duties. Fleetwater Opposition produced winners in all three disciplines but he hit the headlines in eventing, in which his offspring included Yarlands Summersong, the Olympic, World and European medallist and Opposition Buzz with Nicola Wilson. In 2003, Fleetwater Opposition was awarded the British Breeding Lifetime Achievement award. Fleetwater Opposition is the sire of 48 Group 1 BE Eventers. 

His Dam, Dutch Bombshell, herself a successful show horse, dressage and vaulting horse. She is by the International Grand Prix Dressage stallion and World Bronze Medallist Dutch Courage out of Military Song who was by the NH stallion Marine Corps out of a mare by Song. Dutch Bombshell competed in the 1990’s up to Medium level and then became a Prix St Georges schoolmaster. Dutch Bombshell was the dam of Catherston Armalite and Catherston Liberation, both as Embryo transfers, whilst she was competing. Armalite is consistently being placed in BD Elementary and was 6th at the Regionals and won the Area Festival. After breeding Opposition Bombshell she became a vaulting horse, carrying the English Intermediate Team Champions as well as all ages of Individual Competitors.  Sadly Opposition Bombshell had to be put down at the end of 2022 and there is a limited amount of frozen semen available for the UK only.
